Giovanni Boldini, art exhibition in Pistoia

From September 9, 2017 to January 6, 2018, at the ancient palace of the Bishops of Pistoia in Tuscany, art enthusiasts will be able to see the wall frescoes that Giovanni Boldrini carried out around 1868 in the Falconiera villa, in Collegigliato village near Pistoia. The painter was 25 years old.
At that time the villa was owned by Mrs. Isabella Falconer.

These frescoes were forgotten and only some time before the Second World War were identified by Emilia Cardona Boldini.

In 1974 the frescoes were detached and preserved in the ancient palace of the bishops of Pistoia.

During the exhibition, 16 paintings of the young Giovanni Boldrini will be visible.
For some decades the ancient palace of the Bishops of Pistoia has been transformed into a museum. The building is adjacent to the cathedral of the Tuscan town.

Another exhibit with about 100 paintings by the same artist is in progress in Turin, Reggia di Venaria.
